Role Overview
As an International Tax Manager, you lead complex U.S. federal and cross-border tax compliance and advisory engagements for mid-sized clients. You are responsible for managing tax teams, reviewing intricate international tax filings, and advising leadership and clients on strategic tax matters. This role plays a key part in ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction, and the continued growth of the firm’s tax practice.
Key Responsibilities
International Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Manage and review complex international tax filings, including Forms 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858, 8992, 8993, 1118, 1116, and 926
- Oversee technical calculations related to Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, QBAI, E&P, and PTEP tracking
- Review international components of consolidated U.S. tax returns
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and filing deadlines
- Prepare and review technical tax memos and research on complex tax issues
- Support international tax aspects of M&A transactions and due diligence
Client Management & Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor on federal and international tax matters
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify opportunities to expand services and drive firm growth
- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and leadership
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and supervise tax professionals to ensure timely, accurate deliverables
- Review workpapers, returns, and technical calculations
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and training initiatives
Strategic & Operational Contributions
- Collaborate with partners and leadership to identify risks and implement solutions
- Manage engagement budgeting, billing, and collections
- Contribute to business development and growth initiatives
- Stay current on U.S. international tax laws and regulatory updates
Qualifications
- CPA required; MST, JD, or LLM in Tax preferred
- 3–5 years of international and/or domestic tax experience in public accounting
- Deep expertise in U.S. international tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- High ethical standards and commitment to professional excellence
